  1. Step 1

First, determine how many Thank You cards you need to send out.

If you received lots of gift cards (or other gifts) the most economical choice is to buy a box of standard Thank You cards. If you are just writing a Thank You card for one or two gift cards you should consider buying individual Thank You cards. Most shopping centers have a card aisle that with Thank You cards that retail for less than one dollar a piece.

  2. Step 2

Start your Thank You card by addressing the recipient. It's always nice to personalize the card with a polite greeting.

    Example:

    "To my great friend,"

    or

"Thanks to the world's best Aunt,"

  3. Step 3

When filling out the Thank You card, make sure you tell the person what you are planning to use or have used the card to purchase.

    Example:

"I used your gift card to buy decorations for the nursery."

    or

"I look forward to using your gift card to buy a new interview suit."

This step will ensure the giver that the gift card was a great gift choice that you can or will use.

  4. Step 4

Always close your Thank You card with a simple "thanks" or "thank you" followed by your name.

Drop your card in the mail and you can be assured your appreciation is clear.

on 7/9/2009 Good article. I like that you added how to give it a personal touch instead of a standard 'Thanks for your gift' style.
