How to Get Audibles on Yahoo Messenger

Audibles are a popular and entertaining Yahoo! Messenger feature that allows you to liven up your chats. Like emoticons, audibles display all kinds of characteristic expressions; however, these icons are enhanced with animation and can talk to the person that you send them to. If you have a Windows operating system, Yahoo! Messenger automatically provides a variety of options for you to use, which are enabled once you apply the necessary setting in your application.

Instructions

      Launch Yahoo! Messenger or get the messenger application from the "Download Yahoo! Messenger" page (see Resources).

      Select "Preferences" from the Yahoo! Messenger toolbar and click the "Messages" icon.

      Go to the "Miscellaneous" screen and check the "Enable Audibles" box. This allows you to view and select an audibles icon in the Messenger window. Click the "OK" button when done.

      Open your Messenger window and, on the right-hand side, click the "More Audibles" button and then the "See All Audibles" button to select currently available audibles from the list.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can find themed audibles around holidays, such as Thanksgiving and Christmas, by checking the audibles list in the Messenger window.
