How to make pizza dough at home

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 2 cups warm water
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 cups all purpose flour
  1. Step 1

Do you love pizza then why not make it at home. It does not take that long and taste delicious. You will need a large mixing bowl to start. You will need to dissolve the yeast in the warm water first. Then you will need to add the oil, salt, and stir in 2 cups of flour. You will need to beat on medium speed for 3 minutes.

  2. Step 2

Then you will continue stirring in the remaining flour until a soft dough is formed. If will be able to form the dough into a ball. You will now knead the dough until it has the consistency of elastic. This will take about 5 minutes. Now place in a greased bowl making sure all sides are coated in the oil.

  3. Step 3

You will now need to cover the dough and allow it to sit for 10 minutes. Now you will divide the dough in half. You will roll each section out on a floured surface until it is in a 13 inch circle. Place dough on 2 twelve inch pizza pans. Slightly squeeze the edges to make a crust. Then bake in a 375 degree oven for 15 minutes or until lightly brown. Then spread your favorite sauce on the crust and top with the toppings of your choice. Then bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted.

on 7/27/2009 I make pizza dough all the time, and a yeast dough definitely has to rise for longer than 10 minutes. Usually 45 minutes to over an hour is required for the dough to double in size and be ready to be worked with.
