How to Update Nuvi 250

Like the street maps and road atlas of the past, it's a good idea to update your Garmin Nuvi 250 GPS unit once a year to ensure you have updated directions in case of street, freeway and highway changes. Luckily, Garmin GPS units have an easy-to-update procedure that takes only a few minutes. Note that the USB cable does not come with the Nuvi 350. However, any USB to mini USB (5 pin) cable will work.

Things You'll Need:

• USB to mini USB (5 pin) cable

1. Download the Garmin WebUpdater (see References for website).

2. Plug the USB to the PC and the mini USB to the Nuvi 250. Wait for the updated information to be transferred to the Nuvi, which will take around two minutes.

3. Install Garmin WebUpdater. The program will automatically detect the Nuvi. When prompted, download all the firmware updates (vehicle and voice updates are optional).

4. Remove the USB cable from the PC and Nuvi once the transfer is complete.

5. Wait for the Nuvi to automatically reboot. The reboot time ranges from a few seconds to a few minutes depending on the number of firmware and optional updates. Once reboot and start-up loading is complete, the Nuvi is fully updated.
