How to Remove Windshield Wipers

Windshield wipers help to restore visibility in your car during inclement weather. Different levels of quality in wiper blades determine how well the wiper blade is able to do its job. A stiff rubber compound will last longer than a thin rubber compound, for example, but will initially cost you more money. However, even the best wiper blades wear out eventually and need to be replaced.

Instructions

    • 1

Pull the wiper blade away from the windshield. Wiper arms are typically spring loaded so as you pull up on them, they will eventually lock into an upright position. As this happens, the wiper arm will be able to stand on its own without you holding it.

Locate the tab on the wiper blade. This tab holds the wiper blade to the wiper arm. Press down on the retaining tab

    • 3

Pull the entire wiper blade assembly off the wiper arm. You may need to negotiate the wiper blade so that you can get a good grip on the blade as you pull the blade off.
