Choosing the right foundation is very important for anyone who decides to wear foundation. If you choose a foundation that doesn't match your skin tone you will not look your best. This article will show you a creative way to choose the right foundation color for your skin tone.

Step 1

Get your make up done for free. Take a trip to the makeup counter at Macy's and get a free make over. You can choose from the many counters but I went to Clinique and it was wonderful. By allowing them to apply your foundation you will see the color that best fits your skin tone. Now you can stop there and purchase their foundation for about $20 or you can just pay close attention to your color foundation and take that information to your nearest Walmart.
Step 2

Purchase a similar foundation from your local pharmacy or Walmart. Now that you know what color foundation is best for your skin tone you can purchase a similar color at a cheaper price. I purchased the Covergirl Queen collection for less than $7 and it looks just as good as the more expensive brands.
Step 3

Sample before you purchase. Look for the foundations that allows you to open the package enough for you to sample a dab on the back of your hand. You really only need a little bit to see if it will blend in perfectly with your skin. Apply a little foundation on your jaw bone and blend towards your neck. If it blends in without looking chalk like it is the right foundation color for your skin tone.
