Buick Park Avenue door panels need to be removed to gain access to the window glass, door locks, speaker and door light. The panels must also be removed to install a keyless entry or security system in the door. Most body and electronic shops charge hefty labor fees to remove and replace the door panels. If you learn how to remove the door panel of a Buick Park Avenue yourself, you can save some money.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Flat-head screwdriver Phillips head screwdriver
  1. Step 1

Locate and remove the four screws from the door panel. The first screw is in the front of the door panel, in the hole/indentation. Two more screws are in the bottom of the door panel. One is inside the pocket and the other is on the very bottom of the panel. The last screw is behind the door handle. Pull the handle out and remove the screw.

  2. Step 2

Use a flat head screw driver to gently pry the window and door lock housing up. Pull it out of the door panel and disconnect the wire connectors behind it. Grip the connectors and pull them out of the plug-in connectors in the bottom of the housing. There will be a connector for the door locks, windows and power mirror.

  3. Step 3

Pull the door panel off the door and towards you, starting at the bottom of the panel. Pry up and away from the door, moving along the edge of the panel on the bottom and both sides. Lift up on the panel and remove it from the lip at the top edge of the door. The panel is not yet completely loose yet, so don't pull or drop it.

  4. Step 4

Reach between the panel and the door to disconnect the two metal rods attached to the back side of the door handle. Each rod has a plastic piece connecting it to the door handle. Pull these pieces towards the door and pop them out. Remove the rods. Disconnect the speakers from the wire connections and the door panel is free.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a small container or bowl to store hardware while removing the panel.
  • Don't jerk the door panel off without disconnecting all attachments first.
