Things You'll Need:
- 2 pair of pliers
- 1 small screwdriver
- cross or flat blade attachment
-
Step 1
Brass GearUnplug the Magic Bullet blender and examine the Power Base. The plastic gear is at the interface for attachements and is mounted on a brass gear of the motor axle. The plastic gear will appear missing, cracked, or otherwise broken.
-
Step 2
Brace MotorCompletely remove the plastic gear so that only the brass gear remains. Turn the Power base on its side. Place a small screw driver in a hole on the bottom of the power base. This will brace the motor in place. Hold the brass gear with a pair of pliers or vice grips and remove the gear by rotating CLOCKWISE.
-
Step 3
Blade GearPick a blade to sacrifice for parts. The basic unit comes with two blades (1 Flat Blade and 1 Cross Blade). For less than $10, shipping included, replacement Magic Bullet blades are also available on EBay.
-
Step 4
Brace BladeUse the pliers or vice grips to hold the Blade on one side and turn the black gear CLOCKWISE on the other side with another pair of pliers. Remove the black gear from the Magic Bullet blade.
-
Step 5
Rubber Gear on Power BaseTake the black rubber gear and screw it COUNTER-clockwise into the the locked Power Base axle. It will take the place of the brass and plastic gears. Once snug, remove the screw driver used to brace the motor.
-
Step 6
The attached black gear will now provide a rubber-to-rubber mounting for all attachments, and the Magic Bullet is ready to use.

on 12/6/2009 So Simple and effective, it surprises me that such a sturdy appliance has such a weak component at the most critical point. But maybe that might have been the manufacturers intention all the time as from reading the blogs hundreds of consumers have the same complaint without the manufacturer making any attempt to make an improvement to what is the Heart of the appliance.
In any way my congratulations and thanks to the person who thought of the remedy, although he/she will probably get no thanks from the manufacturer.

on 11/15/2009 You're a genius!!! After a few tries with pliers and deciding to use vice grips it took under 5minutes. My hisband thought I was nuts as he always does when I try to self repair before I toss things out. It works great now. Thank you....

on 11/11/2009 THANK YOU!!!! I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life throwing away and replacing broken Magic Bullets! My experience with the repair was a bit different: 1) Couldn't fit a screwdriver into the slot for the motor, so I put it in the hole in the middle. 2) Three men tried and couldn't get the brass piece to budge, until the fourth held it with a vice grip and turned the screwdriver (inserted in the hole instead of the slots)instead of the brass piece - tah dah!. 3) He also put a little grease inside the rubber replacement part, and again used the screwdriver from the bottom instead of trying to turn the rubber part. Hope this helps someone else, and thank you so much for telling us to replace the broken plastic piece with the rubber piece!!! *smile and wave*
