How to Identify Pain Killer Pills

Prescription drugs, including pain killers, can be very helpful to those prescribed the pills. However, they can be dangerous if ingested by those without a prescription. Further, it can also be dangerous to ingest any pill you cannot identify. It is important for you to be able to identify a pain killer pill to make sure you are taking the correct medication.

  1. Step 1

    Open your web browser and point it to http://www.drugs.com/pill_identification.html/. This is a site that will help you identify unknown medication.

  2. Step 2

    Read the user agreement and click the "I Agree" button if you would like to proceed.

  3. Step 3

    Enter any imprints that appear on the pill. For example, if you see a number or letter on the pill, enter it into this text box.

  4. Step 4

    Select the color of the pill you are trying to identify. There is a drop-down menu where you can select the color.

  5. Step 5

    Select the shape of the pill. There is another drop-down menu with a list of shapes that you can choose from.

  6. Step 6

    Click the "Search" button and a description of the pill along with a picture of the pill will appear. You have now identified the pain killer you were trying to identify.
