The measurements needed to size a bra in India are very similar to the measurements used in America, but with the additional step that is used when measuring a bra in the UK. In India, bra sizes are based on bust and ribcage measurements. To find the correct bra size, you need to to take the measurements in the correct fashion. This will ensure that you have a bra that fits comfortably while giving adequate support.

Things You'll Need:

  • Bra Measuring tape
  1. Step 1

Put on a bra that is comfortable. Remove your outer clothing.

  2. Step 2

Use a measuring tape to take the measurements of your ribcage, right under the breasts, and take note of this measurement. This is for the band size of your bra.

  3. Step 3

Use the measuring tape to measure across the fullest part of your breast. Take note of this measurement and this is for your cup size.

  4. Step 4

Add 4 inches to the under bust measurement, if the measurement is an even number, and 5 inches if the measurement is an odd number. This is the band size of your bra. For example if the measurement you take is 32 inches you will add 4 inches for a total of 36 inches; if the measurement is 33 inches, you will add 5 inches for a band size of 38 inches.

  5. Step 5

Subtract the band size from the cup measurement to determine your correct cup size. For example, if the measurement at the fullest part of your breast is 40 inches and your band size is 36 inches, then the difference is 4 inches. Cup sizes are measured as A, B, C, D, DD/E, etc. 1 inch is the same as one letter. Therefore 4 inches would be D and the bra size in this case would be a 36D.

Tips & Warnings
  • The size of your breasts may change as you get older and as you gain or lose weight. Check your size every six months to make sure it hasn't changed. Make sure that the breasts are adequately supported by the bra cups; a properly fitting bra is not going to poke, or dig into your rib cage. Buying a larger size is always the better option than buying a smaller size, but make sure that the cup is not baggy. If there is any breast tissue spilling out from cup, the bra is too small.
