Consider the water factor to find the best marine speaker. I know this seems like a no brainer, but people do try to use car audio speakers in boats. This is bad idea because the cones are often made of paper and the speakers are not built to be waterproof or even water resistant.

Even the best marine speakers are not going to be crystal clear while your boat is bouncing along. Although an amp will help if you want to hear your marine speakers while you're skimming along.

I am helping my father-in-law put in a new outdoor speaker system at his beach house. His old speaker system is completely corroded. The summer Salt air and the harsh New England winters quickly took a number on the speakers and the wiring. I want to set up a speaker system that can handle severe weather and provides great sound quality. Possibly it if the speakers come with attractive covers to keep them protected when not in use. One set of speakers will be attached to the outside wall of the house (Need wall mounts) and the other set will be at a flat patio area that has seats that look out on the water (not wall mounted). The wiring will come from inside the house to the wall mounts. I will need to dig a trench from the house to the patio sitting area. Looking advice for best outdoor wall mounted and not wall mounted speakers that can handle extreme weather. Recommendations on the best way to protect the wiring that will be in the trench. And Advice on the general protection of the speakers in severe outdoor conditions. My thought is that high quality Marine speakers may be the best option. Any advice on Marine speakers that would be best for the situation described above? Thank you
