Cure Severe Vertigo

Vertigo is not a disease. It is more often called a symptom that can occur for a variety of reasons, causing dizziness in which an individual's sense of balance can become compromised. It is a condition that can be cured a variety of ways, many of them being simple home remedies. For severe vertigo, it is less likely you will resolve this problem at home -- you might need your doctor's help. But while you're waiting for your appointment, it's worth trying to solve the problem on your own.

Instructions

    • 1

Place your hand on your forehead and close your eyes. This will help your head and extremities orient themselves with one another.

    • 2

Press your head against your hand, keeping the hand firm. Count to 10. Repeat several times.

    • 3

Eat poppy seeds, dates or other citrus fruits along with other herbal remedies which allegedly help alleviate vertigo. Their effectiveness will depend entirely on what is causing your vertigo.

    • 4

Visit your doctor. Whether the vertigo is cured or not, you will need to let your doctor know what you've experienced and try to find the cause.

    • 5

Ask your doctor about various medications you can take. Your doctor will make his recommendations based on what he thinks is causing the vertigo.

    • 6

Consider an eye plug in severe cases. This is a simple procedure which is effective 95 percent of the time and corrects the imbalances causing vertigo.

Tips & Warnings

  • Whether you correct vertigo on your own or not, visit your doctor. Because vertigo is a symptom, there might be something far more serious causing it.
