How to Use Satellite Internet With Vonage

Vonage provides telephone service over high-speed Internet connections using a technology knows as Voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP. Cable and DSL modems are popular examples of high-speed connections. However, Vonage can be used on a satellite high-speed Internet connection just as easily.

Things You'll Need

• Satellite modem Vonage V-Portal Phone Adapter Ethernet cable Touch-tone telephone and line cord

Instructions

Setting Up

1. 

   Disconnect your satellite modem from power.

2. 

   Disconnect your satellite modem's existing Ethernet cable from your computer or wireless router.

3. Insert the Ethernet cable removed from your computer or wireless router into the yellow port marked "Ethernet" on your Vonage V-Portal Phone Adapter.

4. 

   Insert one end of the second Ethernet cable provided by Vonage into the blue port marked "Internet" on your Vonage V-Portal Phone Adapter.

5. Connect the Ethernet cable from the blue port marked "Internet" on your Vonage V-Portal Phone Adapter to your satellite modem's Ethernet (or LAN) port.

6. Reconnect your satellite modem to power.

7. Connect your Vonage V-Portal Phone Adapter to power after the satellite modem fully reloads.

8. 

   Follow any and all instructions on the Vonage V-Portal Phone Adapter LCD screen.

9. 

   Connect your telephone line cord to the green Telephone 1 port on the Vonage V-Portal Phone Adapter when prompted by the LCD screen.

10. Check your telephone for dial tone. Your telephone line should be fully operational through Vonage.

Tips & Warnings

• Read Vonage instruction manual and terms of service thoroughly before attempting to connect telephone service.

• Always insert and remove cables from base. Never pull from cord. Vonage service requires monthly payment.
