Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

  • Trash Bag Twist Ties
  • Scissors
  • Scissors
  • Staplers
  • paints (white, red, black)
  1. Step 1

Fill a large black trash bag with leaves and tie. This will be the spider's body.

  2. Step 2

Fill a second trash bag only half-full and tie. This will be the spider's head.

  3. Step 3

Cut four trash bags in half vertically and staple the cut sides closed.

  4. Step 4

Fill each half with leaves and tie. These will make up the spider's legs.

  5. Step 5

Paint big white eyes with red wiggly streaks and black dots in the middle of the spider head bag.

  6. Step 6

Staple the body parts together and place your spider in the yard.

Tips & Warnings
  • Go wild. Make smaller spiders with smaller bags, and hang them in trees or around shrubs. After Halloween, you can pour the leaves into your mulch bin or leave them in the bags to break down for mulch next spring.

on 11/22/2005 Either shine a light on the spider or sit it on a orange blanket, but at night, black bags are hard to make out what they are. You can try standing the spider on your lawnmower and add spider webs and smaller spiders so that it "stands out." (hehehe)

on 11/22/2005 Paint gallon milk jugs into spooky characters - bottom-side-up so you can slide neck of the jug on a pole outside. Shine a green or white spotlight on them at night. Shine a spotlight on a dummy you've made and sit it in a chair surrounded by pumpkins.
