This is how to best pack an item for shipping to prevent damage due to poor packaging.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Shipping supplies
  1. Step 1

Find a sturdy box that fits your item and a decent amount of packing material. You want to item to be stablized.

  2. Step 2

Make sure there are no other labels on the box. It is possible with more than one label the box could be returned to you.

  3. Step 3

Pack the item and make sure it is secure with packing material like bubble wrap or whatever else you want to use. Other materials could be things like newspapers or old clothes, just something that can be formed to take up space in the box.

  4. Step 4

If the item being shipped is very fragile, be creative and get a very protective container like a plastic case, and pack it within the hard case and then again into a box.

  5. Step 5

Lightly shake the box and see if the item is moving around. If it is open it back up and add more packing material.

  6. Step 6

Use plenty of tape on the box. A single piece is never enough.

Tips & Warnings
  • If the item is valuable get insurance. Better safe than sorry.
  • Do not leave empty space, it could lead to crushing if something is stacked on it.
