Step 1
Wipe the gun clean using acetone. Remove all oils from your hands and from any lubricant you have used on the gun previously.

Choose your colors. The colors you will want to use for your camouflage depend on the terrain of the area where you will be hunting. If you expect to be hunting in snow, for example, you might use a white base for your camouflage. Choose colors that are found in the terrain of your hunting area.

Spray on the base coat. It generally is best to use the lightest color for your base coat. In average terrain, khaki makes a good base color. For tundra or jungle, you may want to vary your colors. You may hang the gun in the air if that is convenient, or you can simply paint one side at a time, waiting in between for the paint to dry.

Apply the first coat of accents after waiting for the base to dry. Use the sponge brush to paint a darker accent color over the light base.

Wait for the first set of accents to dry and then apply the second set, using your third color of paint. When painting the accents, take into account the shapes of the terrain. If you expect to be hiding among pebbles, paint small circular shapes. Paint jagged lines to approximate twigs and branches and add leaf shapes if you are using green paint.
