Sugar cravings can be the result of numerous biological factors, from PMS to hypoglycemia. However, you don't have to let those cravings rule your life. There are several things you can do to curb sugar cravings instantly, and other things you can do to prevent them from returning. Take back control of your life and don't let sugar cravings dictate your eating habits.

Things You'll Need

  • Sea salt
  • Fruit
  • B vitamin complex
  • L-glutamine
  • Dried dandelion root

Combine ¼ tsp. sea salt in an 8-ounce glass of warm water. Drink the entire glass to instantly curb sugar cravings. As soon as the salt-water is gone, so should your craving for sugar.

Eat fruit for a meal to stop sugar cravings in their tracks. Replace one full meal with nothing but fruit and your cravings will be gone, your blood sugar stabilized, and there will be less risk of the sugar craving returning before the next meal.

Take supplements to control sugar cravings. Take 25-100 milligrams of a B vitamin complex per to help you overcome consistent cravings. Take 500 milligrams of L-glutamine between meals to curb sugar cravings.

Exercise to stop sugar cravings. Just 10 minutes per day is believed to help with cravings, although it will be most effective if performed while having a sugar craving. Go for a power-walk or jog, and as you move your cravings will disappear.

Drink a bitter tea to control sugar cravings. Boil one cup of water and pour over one tablespoon of dried dandelion root. Steep the mixture for 10-15 minutes and then strain. Drink immediately to curb sugar cravings instantly. The tea will be bitter, but do not sweeten or your cravings will return.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you're concerned that your sugar cravings are out of control, consult a qualified medical practitioner. Although these methods will help you successfully curb sugar cravings as they happen, if you feel there is a more serious underlying condition, contact your doctor.
  • Do not consume sea salt if you are on a low-sodium or salt restricted diet.
