Naturally curly hair needs a lot of care to stay in top notch condition. That's because it has a tendency to frizz if not well-maintained.

The reason for the frizzing is because hair that is curly is almost always dry in nature. In addition, light reflects from surfaces that are straight. Therefore, curly hair may not have the same gleam that straight hair does.

The girl with curls also has to deal more with tangles. Therefore, it's imperative for you, if you possess curls, to have the right styling aids, shampoos, and conditioners.

The following steps and tips can help you make the most out of your curly locks. They will be quite fetching if you follow the recommendations below.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Don't wash your hair every day. Washing curly hair on a daily basis tends to make the hair drier and more unmanageable. If you need to wash it on some days, though, rinse the hair without shampoo before applying conditioner.

  2. Step 2

When you do wash your curls with shampoo, be sure to use a good moisturizing shampoo with a leave-in conditioner so the hair will be well-hydrated.

  3. Step 3

When using leave-in conditioners, be sure to comb the ingredients with a wide-tooth comb. This is the only type of comb you should use.

  4. Step 4

On a bi-monthly basis, use a hot oil treatment on your hair.

  5. Step 5

After shampooing, do not rub a towel through your hair. This can make your hair frizzy. Instead, merely squeeze out the excess water. Apply shine serum and let your hair air dry.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you prefer to use a dryer instead of letting your hair dry naturally, use one with a diffuser.
  • When you do blow dry, stop the drying process before the hair is completely dry. Blow drying it thoroughly can cause further dryness and, ultimately, breakage.
  • When brushing your hair, a boar's hair bristle brush is the preferred brush to use. All other brushes can cause tangling and breakage.
  • If you wish to bypass brushing, use your fingers to style your locks.
  • Girls with curls look lovely in long styles. However, short styles are also attractive if the hair is layered. In fact cutting the hair like this can prevent problems with split ends and further breakage.
