Step 1
First of all, stay away from alcohol or drugs. This will cause you to feel more depressed and can only make things feel worse. If you can't, you should seek professional help.
-
Step 2
Eat healthy and get some sleep. Lack of nutrients and sleep will change your whole outlook on life. You should have atleast 8 hours of sleep a night.
-
Step 3
Talk to someone. Your friends, family, a professional (your doctor)if you have too. You can even go online and meet people playing games and on chat lines. If you are lonely, this is a better way to meet people than going to the bar.
-
Step 4
Buy yourself a new outfit, get your hair done, go to a spa. Pamper yourself. You deserve it.
-
Step 5
Read self help books. Sometimes they really do make you feel better.
-
Step 6
Look at your children if you have them and thank god to have them. So many people can't have children and would die to have one of their own. If you can't have children, think about adopting. So many children need good homes.
-
Step 7
Get yourself a pet. It is a scientific fact that pets will help you to feel better. They are loyal and will love you no matter what.
-
Step 8
If you are worried about money, have collectors calling you, or are afraid of losing your home, talk to an attorney or someone who can advise you. You can still claim bankruptcy if you have to or have your debts settled.
-
Step 9
Go to church. When my mother died, I felt like I was walking in a cloud of despair. I hadn't been to church for years. After I started going, I felt closer to her and I started appreciating the life that I still had. My children, my husband, and my family. They were still alive and they needed me.
-
Step 10
If you are trying to get over a relationship gone bad, things will get better. It takes time to heal but you will survive and you will move on.
-
Step 11
When I feel depressed I like to take a walk. A walk around a nature center or a hike through the forest. Breath in nature and open your eyes to the beauty of life. Life goes so quickly so you should be thankful to have the opportunity to see and hear things around you. Appreciate the things that you can still do. If you can walk, hear, see, and speak, be happy. Some people never have that opportunity. If you have never been crippled, burned, shot, stabbed, molested, really thank god and be thankful again. And if you have and you have lived through it, believe that there is a reason that you have survived. What has happened to you has made you stronger and your life and survival will have a powerful affect on someone else in your life. Whether you ever even realize it.
-
Step 12
Again, if you are depressed and can't pull away from feelings of sadness, seek professional help. Many people need it and there is nothing to be ashamed of. Life is hard and stressful and there is no reason to let yourself waste the one and only life you will ever have here on this earth.
