How to Clean a Maytag Neptune
A Maytag Neptune is a washer or a dryer that is made by Maytag. Many different models of Neptune's were created including front load washers and dryers as well as top load washers and dryers. In either case, the cleaning requirements for washers are the same on both models, and the cleaning requirements on dryers are the same on both models. Maytag Neptune laundry machines need to be cleaned every 3 months to keep them in the best running shape for your family. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Open the door on the washing machine and on the dryer. Dip the cotton swab in the water bowl, and then depress the swab into the small crease around the door of both. This will loosen any debris such as detergent or lint from the area, and makes it easier to clean.
-
2
Depress a clean and dry swab into the same crevices around the doors to remove the damp dirt and debris the last swab loosened up. Repeat this until all of the dirt is removed.

3
Soak the cleaning rag in the water bowl, and then wring it out thoroughly. Spray the cleaner on the outside of the sides and the fronts of the machines, as well as the tops where the lids may or may not be. Allow this to sit for a few minutes and then begin wiping from the top down to the sides and bottom.

4
Add bleach to the washing machine, in the area specifically for the bleach and fill to the fill line. Run the washer on the 'clean washer' cycle, which will take about 30 minutes.

5
Remove the lint trap from the dryer and dispose of the lint in the trap. Using the rag, wipe down the inside of the lint trap to remove any residual lint and dirt. Rinse the rag in the water bowl, and wring out again. Wipe down the inside of the dryer tub including the tumble arms.

Tips & Warnings
Dryer lint can catch fire if not removed on a regular basis. It is imperative that the lint trap be cleaned after every load that is dried. Washers come with a clean cycle that requires the use of bleach in the machine in order for the cleaning to be efficient and sterilizing.
