There are many tips and tricks on a BlackBerry smartphone that can save you time and frustration. One such trick is erasing a large number of text and email messages with the push of one button. Things You'll Need

    • Blackberry device
      • 1

Find the "Messages" icon on your phone (it looks like an envelope). You may need to first press the BlackBerry "Menu" button depending on your set up.

      • 2

Decide which text messages and/or emails you want to delete. Make this decision based on the day and date, so that you know you are erasing the text messages before that date. For example, you might want to erase all messages that came in before today. In this case, you would be deleting all text or emails except the ones that your cell phone received today.

Use the BlackBerry trackball and scroll to the specific date that you would like to erase the prior text and email messages.

      • 4

Highlight the day and date and press the BlackBerry trackball in to display the menu options.

      • 5

Select the "Delete Prior" option. You will then see "Delete all prior items?" which you need to confirm by selecting "Delete." You have now successfully deleted and cleared all the text messages and emails on your BlackBerry cell phone that came before that date.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Clear out your text messages and/or emails on a weekly basis to free up memory space on your BlackBerry.

    • You can use these same steps to "Mark Prior Opened" which will show all unread messages prior to that specific date as opened or read.

    • Save any important messages that you don't want to lose. Simply select a message and from the menu click on "Save." This way you don't lose anything important if you delete a large amount of text or email messages all at once.
