Sending free text messages is as easy as composing an email. To begin, log into your email account and open a blank message.

Where you would normally put the email address type the 10 digit cell phone number of the person to whom you want to send the text message. Do not add a 1 in front of the number or include any spaces.

To email text message a Verizon wireless customer type @vtext.com directly after the phone number.

Depending on the length of the text message you can type it in either the subject line or in the body of the email. Only the first 160 characters will be sent as a text.

Press send and the text message will be delivered instantly. That's all there is to sending free text messages by email.
