Key fobs are often used to personalize your key rings, but they also serve another purpose: making it easy to locate your keys in a pocket or bag. You can make a key fob that is pretty, designed to loop around your wrist with ribbon and nylon webbing. Nylon webbing comes in strips similar to ribbon, and is available at sewing stores and some craft stores. It will make your key fob more durable and able to withstand daily wear and tear.
Things You'll Need
- Key ring
- Nylon webbing, 1/2- to 1-inch wide
- Sewing machine
Choose a fabric ribbon the same width as the nylon webbing. Cut a 12-inch length of webbing and ribbon.
Lay the ribbon on top of the webbing strip. Using a sewing machine, stitch together up both long sides of the ribbon and webbing.
Fold the ribbon in half and slip the key ring on so that it hangs in the middle. Sew across the open end to secure both ends of ribbon together.
Pull the key ring up to the stitched end of the ribbon loop. Stitch across the ribbon just below the key ring to secure the ring inside the ribbon fob.
Tips & Warnings
- Make your fob longer to wear around your neck.
- You can reinforce your stitches with fabric glue.
