How to Convert XVID AVI to MP4

Xvid is a video codec that is used in many video compression formats such as Audio Video Interleave (AVI). Xvid encoded AVI video files supports high quality compressions with fast encoding speeds.
MPEG-4 (MP4) is a video compression format that uses codecs such as H.264 to compress video for portable media players and video websites. MP4 supports a lossy format allowing videos to be compressed to small video sizes while maintaining high visual quality. Converting Xvid encoded AVI files to MP4 is accomplished using a video converter program.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • AVC video converter program
  1. Step 1

    Download AVC Video Converter free (see Resources). Follow the setup and installation instructions to install it on your computer.

  2. Step 2

    Launch your program after it has installed. Click "Add Video" on the top of your program. Locate your Xvid AVI video file from the location it is saved on your computer and click "OK." to upload it to your program.

  3. Step 3

    Select "Customized MP4 Movie (*.mp4)" in the profile window. Scroll down the same window and select the video size and quality settings for your output video.

  4. Step 4

    Select the audio format. Choose from MP3, AAC and AC3 audio format. Select two channels for a balanced left and right audio playback.

  5. Step 5

    Click "Convert." When the conversion is complete, your video will be in MPEG-4 (MP4) format.
