There are a few reasons why you might want to find sold homes in an area. For one, you need this information to decide what to price your own home at if you are about to sell. On the other hand you might be in the market to buy a house in a certain location and you want to decide what to offer. There are several ways to find out this information---some services are free and some will require you to pay for a subscription.

Visit Zillow.com. Here you can search an individual address to see when it was last sold, and at what price. You can also click the "Recently sold" link on the front page to search a general area or a neighborhood. With this tool you can see how much the house last sold for. The site also lists details about the house, including number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and lot size. Search for homes sold as recently as the month before.

Go to Homes.com to find sold homes. Do a search for a city and state, an exact address or a ZIP code. Click one of the homes that comes up in your search results and then scroll to the bottom of the page. Select "recently sold homes" to display a list of sold homes in the area. You will be supplied with the date of sale, information about the property and the selling price of the house.

Go to Realtor.com to search for sold homes in an area. Click the "Go" button under "Find Home Values" on the homepage. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select the "Recently sold" tab. Choose an area from the onscreen map to find homes that have just sold in the past one month to a year. You have to keep zooming in until you see results pop up. Move around on the map to find clusters of recently sold homes in your chosen area.

Call your licensed Realtor to ask for a listing of the most recently sold homes in your town. The agent will have listings that he sold himself and those sold by other agents. This information is provided to registered real estate agents on a private computer database.
