The Mini Feed on Facebook is the "feed" of updates and news that Facebook publishes about your profile whenever you make a change or do something on Facebook. The mini feed displays these recent activities on your Facebook profile page as well as shows up in the news feed present on your friends' homepages when they log in.

Examples of things that show up on the mini feed include status updates, tagged photos, joining groups, using a Facebook application and becoming friends with someone.

There are various things that can be done to adjust the mini feed and what it shows. There is not a way to completely hide the mini feed; rather, the focus is on limiting what is published and who can see the information. This can effectively prevent information from showing up on the mini feed.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Adjusting the settings of the Mini Feed

  1. Step 1

Log into Facebook. Click on 'Profile' to view your profile in real time.

  2. Step 2

Browse through recently published stories and news about you that appear on your profile. Click on the 'See All' option in order to view all recent mini feed postings about your Facebook activity.

  3. Step 3

Hover the mouse pointer over a recent story or mini feed status alert. An 'X' will appear which you will click on to hide the story from your friends and from the mini-feed.

  4. Step 4

Confirm that the feed post will be hidden when a pop up comes up asking you to confirm the hiding. Once the item is hidden from the mini-feed it will no longer appear on your profile nor will friends be able to see the story or post.

  5. Step 5

Repeat this process for any other stories or posts that you want to hide from the mini feed. This must be done each time for each feed item that you want to hide, it is not automatic.

  6. Step 1

Log into your Facebook account and go to "Privacy settings" under the "Settings" heading on the top right of the main page.

  7. Step 2

Click on "News Feed and Wall" under "Privacy." There will be check marks next to all the "news" items that will be posted to the news and mini feed. Deselect the items that you do not want to show up in the news and mini feed.

  8. Step 3

Click on "Save Changes." The items that have check marks next to them will continue to appear in the mini feed; those without the check marks will not appear in the mini feed.

Tips & Warnings
  • Hide posted items right after posting them by going to your profile page and clicking the "X" next to the posted item to minimize the chance that someone has seen the mini-feed post.
