How to Update Vista Photo Gallery

Windows Photo Gallery for Windows Vista provides an easy, intuitive way to store, organize and print your photographs. Like most software from Microsoft, it may be updated from time to time to support new functions and settings. To make it easier for users to keep their Photo Gallery software updates, Microsoft set the software to automatically notify users of available updates. If updates are available for your version, you can update Photo Gallery in just a few minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch Windows Photo Gallery from its desktop icon or its entry in the Programs menu in the Start menu. Wait for the software to load fully.

    • 2

Within a few minutes of Photo Gallery fully loading up, you may see a small notification window pop up in the bottom right corner of the window. If you see such a notice that says that updates are available for Photo Gallery, click the link to download the updates. If you do not see such a notice after a few minutes of having the program open, it means there are no available updates or that your computer is not connected to the Internet.

    • 3

Wait for Microsoft Internet Explorer to open after clicking the download link. The page that opens will include a download button and specific instructions on how to install the software. Click the download button and open the file when the download finishes.

    • 4

Follow the on-screen prompts and the directions from the Microsoft site to install the updates.

    • 5

Restart Photo Gallery for the changes to take effect.
