Things You'll Need:
- Minesweeper game
-
Step 1
I am using the Intermediate game board for this example. Click on any of the squares in the screen. Then, click on another square in another area on the board. Usually, by the second or third click, you will be able to locate a couple mines with certainty.
-
Step 2
Mark a square that you are certain is a mine by right-clicking on the square. This will place a red flag on the mine.
The numbers surrounding a mine represent the number of mines that square is touching. If a square has a "1" in it, it is only touching one mine, a "2" is touching two mines, and so on. If you know where that mine is and can flag it, then you're ready for the next step. -
Step 3
Find a numbered square next to your flagged mine. Position your mouse over the numbered square. Click the right and left mouse buttons simultaneously. If there are any uncleared squares surrounding the numbered square where you clicked, they will be revealed.
If you click with both buttons on a square whose number does not match the number of flagged mines it touches, no squares will be cleared. This prevents you from making a mistake and stepping on a mine. -
Step 4
Repeat this step around all the places that you have flagged mines to reveal the remaining safe squares. Once you get good, you should be able to get faster times.

on 6/17/2009 It may not work on every version of minesweeper, if you're not using the standard one from windows. Also, if it doesn't work, you may have placed a flag in the wrong spot.
