It is easy to lighten a picture in photoshop and is often necesssary to do so when you are wanting to print or publish a photo of a dog. It always seems that, with a dark dog, it is difficult to define the areas of the head around the eyes and other parts of the dog that might be in shadow.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

Check the "preview " option in the curves screen so that you can see what your progress is as you drag the bar up or down.

  4. Step 4

Adjust the bar up or down until you are satisfied with the resulting photo. If you drag the bar UP you will see that the photo lightens and if you drag the bar DOWN you will see that it darkens. You can always go back and readjust this option with the curves bar if you are not satisfied with the result.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have Photoshop CS3 this is the thing to use. The Photoshop "elements" does have the same option however.
  • Make sure you have checked the "preview" option in the curves bar.If this is not checked you won't see the adjustments that you make.
