Things You'll Need:
- Audio-to-Midi converter
-
Step 1
Download and install audio-to-MIDI conversion software. See Resources for a link to download a shareware converter program (it is available for a free trial, but you must pay to keep it).
-
Step 2
Import the audio file you would like to convert. The software conversion can handle MP1, MP2, MP3, MPP, MPA, AIF, SND, AU, WAV and audio CD formats. To import your file, click the folder icon and select the file from your computer.
-
Step 3
Select the output format. In this case, choose MIDI.
-
Step 4
Alter any audio settings including pitch or volume. Corresponding scroll bars allow you to do this.
-
Step 5
Choose an output musical instrument. The MIDI converter will transpose the audio file into a musical instrument. The default is set to piano. You can choose from a list of instruments from a drop-down menu.
-
Step 6
Click the "Save" icon located on the bottom of the application to complete the conversion process.
