Ogg is an open source audio format that does sacrifice some quality to attain a small file size like, for instance, the famous MP3 format.       Install Switch Sound File Converter by visiting the website (see Resources), downloading the installation file and running it.

      Open Switch Sound File Converter. Then click "Add File(s)" in the toolbar near the top of the window; use "Add Folder" instead if you have an entire folder to convert. Browse to and highlight the WAV file(s) or folder you will be converting into Ogg format. Click "Open," "OK," or equivalent and your files will be placed into the queue.

      In the "Output Folder" section near the bottom of the window, browse to the folder you'd like your Oggs placed in. Click the menu beside "Output Format," and choose "Ogg."

      Click "Encoder Options" and select the quality of your Ogg encoding. The higher the number, the better the quality, but the higher the file size, as well. For good-sounding files, try to encode to at least a quality level of 8. Click "OK."

      Click "Convert" in the lower right-hand corner of the window. Switch Sound File Converter will convert your WAVs into Ogg format, placing them in the folder you chose in Step 3.

      Click "System," "Administration" and "Synaptic Package Manager." If you aren't running Ubuntu or another Debian distribution, install Sound Converter then skip to Step 5. To install, use your operating system's package manager, if possible, or visit the Sound Converter website and download and install the program (see Resources).

      Type "Sound Converter" into the Quick Search box. Click the Package header at the top of the list of search results to sort them. Locate "soundconverter" in the list, then click the empty checkbox next to it. Click "Mark for Installation." If asked to mark further packages for installation or otherwise take action to properly install the program, click "Mark," "OK," or equivalent.

      Click "Apply" in the toolbar near the top of the window to install Sound Converter.

      Run Sound Converter, then click "Add File" in the toolbar near the top of the window; use the "Add Folder" button instead if you have an entire folder convert.

      Browse to and highlight the WAV files(s) or the folder you will be converting into Ogg format. Click "Open" to add them to the queue.

      Click Edit, then click Preferences. Beneath "Type of Result?", select "Ogg Vorbis (.ogg)." Adjust the encoding quality, if you like, and click "Close."

      Click "Convert" in the toolbar near the top of the window. Your WAVs will be converted into Oggs and placed in the same folder as the original WAV files.
