Things You'll Need
- Flat iron
- Curling iron
- Mousse or styling gel
Styling Tips for Naturally Curly Hair
Shampoo and condition hair as usual. While hair is still damp, comb it back and put up into a high ponytail. Apply some hairspray to the crown of your head to smooth out bumps and flyaways.
Use your finger to twist your curls into spirals, then dry with a diffuser to lock the shape.
Pick out about 5 to 10 half-inch-wide strands of hair from the ponytail and straighten with the flat iron. Be sure to take out a few strands from the top and bottom of the ponytail to create a uniform look.
Apply a final mist of hairspray all over to hold the style.
Styling Tips for Naturally Straight Hair
Shampoo and condition hair as usual. Blow dry or let air dry into its natural straight state. Apply a quarter-sized amount of mousse or hair gel to smooth out flyaways.
Pull hair up into a high ponytail and secure with an elastic band.
Using a curling iron, pick out about 5 to 10 strands to curl into spirals. Try to have an equal amount of curly and straight strands throughout the ponytail.
Spritz your ponytail with hairspray to hold the style.
