How to Set Up TRENDnet TEW-432BRP

Configuring the TRENDnet TEW-432BRP is an involved process, but by following each of the steps correctly, you will be rewarded with a completely functional broadband wireless access point and router. You can complete this process using the included TRENDnet "Easy Go" software or by using the web interface (if you're comfortable doing so).

  1. Configuring the TEW-432BRP

      Make sure your computer is plugged directly into your cable or DSL modem. (Do not turn on the TEW-432BRP until you are specifically instructed to do so.)

      Attach the antenna by screwing the threaded nut at its base into the threaded connector protruding from the back of the TEW-432BRP.

      Insert the Easy Go CD into your CD-ROM drive.

      Click "Start Installation" when the Easy Go software auto-runs, then click "No thanks. I already...", followed by "Next."

      Click "Next" when the "Check Successful" screen appears.

      Unplug the power to your cable or DSL modem and click "Next."

      Unplug the Ethernet cable that connects your computer to your cable or DSL modem and plug it into the yellow port (labeled Port #1) on the TEW-432BRP. When this is complete, click "Next."

      Plug the power supply what was included with your TEW-432BRP into the unit and wait while the TEW-432BRP is being configured.

      Connect the gray Ethernet cable to the gray port (labeled WAN) on the TEW-432BRP, then connect the other end of the gray cable to the cable or DSL modem. Click "Next."

      Connect the power supply to the cable or DSL modem and wait until the cable or DSL modem is fully booted up. (This process can take two minutes or more, depending on the model.)

      Enter your DSL account name and password (if requested) and press "Next." (This screen will only appear to some DSL customers and a minority of cable subscribers.) Wait until the TRENDnet automatic configuration is complete.

      Enter a password for your TEW-432BRP when asked and press "Next." (This password is one of your creation, and is not provided by the DSL supplier.)

      Enter a unique SSID (name) for your wireless network and click "Next."
      (The SSID will be displayed as the name of your access point when you connect.)

      Choose the level of security (WPA is recommended, but your wireless adapter may only support WEP) and click "Next."

      Click "Next" to confirm the settings.

      Click "OK" to confirm that network settings have been saved. Wait until the configuration is complete.

      Click "Next" when you are presented with the "Router Configuration is Complete" screen.

      Click "Next" to acknowledge that the network configuration has been completed at the "Network Configuration" screen.

      Select "Exit TRENDnet" and click "Finish."

      Open your web browser to test your connection.

    Browser Configuration Method (Recommended for Expert Use Only)

      Make sure your computer is plugged directly into the TEW-432BRP. Open your browser and point it to http://192.168.10.1.

      (If the Router Configuration screen does not appear, reset the router to the factory defaults by inserting a paperclip into the small hole in the rear of the router marked "Reset." This hole is is located at the far right-hand side of the router, next to the power jack.)

      Enter the user name and password as "admin" and click "OK."

      Configure the router as per your network specifications.

      Connect the TEW-432BRP's WAN port (it is colored gray) to your cable or DSL modem and turn off the power to the cable or modem.

      Turn on the power to the cable or DSL modem and wait until it is fully booted up.

      Open your web browser to test your connection.

  • Always make sure your TEW-432BRP is using current firmware.

  • Always plug the correct power supply into the device it is intended to be used with.
