Step 1
How to find an honest mechanic. You seek recommendations by asking other people who have used the mechanic's services. You ask their opinion of how the repair or maintenance job was perform and would they recommend him as a mechanic to others.
-
Step 2
Make sure that the mechanic is Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified. Look for the (ASE) logo that should be displayed so that the public can see the the repair shop is reputable as well as the mechanics. The ASE logo validates that the mechanics will not just throw repair parts at your automobile but will use automotive expertise in the repair.

Step 3
Research your local area for a automobile repair facility before you actually need the services. Check the Better Business Bureau on line and search for any negative comments that would deter you from using the automobile repair services. Do not, however, use a repair shop based entirely on the location. A conveniently located repair shop does not mean that the repair and maintenance services will be honest.

Step 4
Look for the ASE automobile certification that should be publicly displayed in the repair facility. Select an honest mechanic with the recommendations of others who have used his automotive repair services. Always request a written estimate and ask about warranties on parts and labor.
