How to Install an Emachine Sound Driver

Software drivers are essentially instructions that tell an operating system how to use a certain hardware device. Many hardware devices such as sound cards and graphics cards require software drivers. eMachines is a computer manufacturer that makes desktops and laptops; the best place to go to install or upgrade sound drivers for eMachine computers is the driver support area of the official website.

Things You'll Need:

  • eMachines computer
  1. Step 1

    Visit the driver support area of the eMachines website. (http://emachines.com/support/product_support.html)

  2. Step 2

    Select your produce type, computer series and model from the drop-down menus.

  3. Step 3

    Click on the plus sign next to the "Downloads" field.

  4. Step 4

    Search through the downloads for "Audio," and click "Download."

  5. Step 5

    Double-click the audio driver set-up file previously downloaded and then click "Next" after reading each informational screen to begin driver installation. It may take a minute or two to install. Restart the computer after installation is complete.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your sound does not work properly after installing a new driver, install a different driver. If eMachines does not host an audio driver for your computer, visit the website for your sound card's manufacturer to download and install a driver. It is safest to download drivers from a manufacturer directly instead of using modified drivers from third party sites.
  • Installing bad drivers may cause computer crashes.
