A 75 gallon aquarium is a beautiful way to showcase your favorite freshwater and tropical fish. Keeping an aquarium of that size clean is imperative to the health of the fish. While daily cleaning by the filter and pump is key, it is also important to routinely clean your 75 gallon tank in its entirety.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Water
  • Sink
  • 5 gallon bucket (2)
  • Fish bowls (3)
  • Chlorine remover
  • Sponge
  • Fish net
  • Cup
  • Hose
  1. Step 1

Dip fish bowls into aquarium to fill with water. Use fish net to scoop fish out of the aquarium and allocate between the three fish bowls. Set aside and out of harms way.

  2. Step 2

Using the 5 gallon buckets, remove all water from the tank and dump it down the sink.

  3. Step 3

Remove all rocks from the tank by using a cup or one of the 5 gallon buckets. Fill with water and chlorine remover. Let sit.

  4. Step 4

Rinse 75 gallon tank out with water, either using a hose attached to the sink or the cup for a more detailed rinse.

  5. Step 5

Place water and some chlorine remover on the sponge. Scrub down the insides of the aquarium. Rinse as in Step 4.

  6. Step 6

Strain water and chlorine remover out of rocks in the 5 gallon bucket, into the sink. Put rocks back in the bottom of the aquarium.

  7. Step 7

Refill aquarium with water and add chlorine remover. Re-introduce fish to their newly cleaned aquarium when the temperature balances out.
