How to Make a Punch Bowl Cake

This cake is a sure winner at social events. It also can feed a large amount of hungry mouths. Follow the recipe below to make this mouth watering cake that is served in a punch bowl.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Punch Bowl
  • 1 box of yellow or white cake mix
  • 2 small boxes of instant vanilla pudding
  • 16 oz of cool whip
  • 3 pints of fresh sliced strawberries
  • 1 package of strawberry glaze
  • 1 large can of crushed pineapple
  1. Step 1

    Bake the cake mix as the directions on the box say.

  2. Step 2

    Let the cake cool.

  3. Step 3

    Tear or cut the cake up into small pieces.

  4. Step 4

    Layer 1/2 of the cake in the bottom of a punch bowl and reserve the rest for later.

  5. Step 5

    Mix the pudding as the directions indicate on the box.

  6. Step 6

    Pour 1/2 of the pudding over the layer of cake in the bottom of the punch bowl. Reserve the rest for later.

  7. Step 7

    Mix the sliced strawberries and glaze together.

  8. Step 8

    Place 1/2 of the strawberry mix over the pudding in the punch bowl. Reserve the rest for later.

  9. Step 9

    Spread 1/2 of the cool whip over the layers in the punch bowl. Reserve the rest for later.

  10. Step 10

    Drain the pineapple and put 1/2 of it over the cool whip in the punch bowl. Reserve the rest.

  11. Step 11

    Now repeat the process of layers with the remaining ingredients.

  12. Step 12

    It is not necessary but the punch bowl cake will look pretty and festive if extra cool whip is added to the top and sliced strawberries are added for decorations.

  13. Step 13

    Chill in the fridge for at least 2 hours before serving. Simply serve with a large serving spoon.

Tips & Warnings
  • Bananas can be added to the mix.
  • Angel food cake can be substituted as well.
