Get rid of your acne cysts fast.

Acne cysts are the most severe form of acne. If you have cystic acne, you will experience hard, painful blemishes on your face that may be filled with pus or fluid. Cystic acne can be red, brown or the color of your skin. Acne cysts usually last longer than regular blemishes, and are considered more severe because of the time it can take to get rid of them. Cystic acne may heal with over-the-counter treatments, but stubborn cystic acne may require a corticosteroid injection from your dermatologist. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Wash your face with an oil-free cleanser containing tea tree oil twice a day. Dry your face completely, then apply oil-free toner with a cotton ball. When the toner has dried, apply a thin layer of oil-free moisturizer to your face.

    • 2

Apply a gel with 10-percent benzoyl peroxide before bed to reduce the size and pain of cystic acne.

    • 3

To reduce swelling of cystic acne during the day, crush an aspirin tablet in a Ziploc bag. Place a few drops of water inside the bag to make a paste and mix thoroughly. Place the paste on your acne cyst and let it dry for at least ten minutes. Rinse off the paste with water.

For stubborn, long-lasting acne cysts, go to the dermatologist for a corticosteroid injection. After the corticosteroid has been injected, the cyst will shrink in approximately two days.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have sensitive skin, test all cleansers and lotions on the back of your wrist before you put it on your face.

  • Do not squeeze or pick the cyst or serious scarring may result. In most cases, squeezing will not release the pressure or swelling of the cyst. If you are in severe pain due to your acne, go to a dermatologist immediately. If you get a rash from any treatment products, discontinue use immediately.
