Pudgy cheeks might be becoming on a child, but fat cheeks on an adult often indicate weight gain. Cheek fat can accumulate along the sides of the face, under the chin and along the neck to form jowls. Cheek fat can be the unsightly evidence of a lack of good diet and exercise or the result of age and a changing body. Losing cheek fat is no easier than losing weight on the rest of the body. To slim the face, you'll need to either perform facial exercises or modify your diet to decrease your overall body weight. Let's look at some ways to lose cheek fat with proper diet and exercise.

    How to Lose Cheek Fat

  1. Step 1

Address your diet first. A well-balanced and nutritional diet filled with healthy foods such as whole grains, lean proteins like fish and chicken and plenty of healthy fruits and vegetables will help you lose weight. Starving yourself isn't the answer to losing cheek fat. A balanced approach should restrict sugar intake and replace unhealthy foods with high quality, healthy foods.

  2. Step 2

Consume at least eight,10-ounce glasses of water each day. Your body needs help flushing out the toxins that accumulate in cells. Water helps your body do this. Stay hydrated when dieting and exercising to improve skin tone as well.

  3. Step 3

Perform regular aerobic exercise to boost your metabolism and help you lose weight. Regular exercise needs to be part of your daily or weekly health regimen. Make exercise a part of your lifestyle to maintain a healthy weight. Many people notice weight gain first in the facial area. You'll notice weight loss quickly on the face too.

  4. Step 4

Do simple facial exercises to help tone the muscles of the face. Facial exercises also help stimulate blood flow and improve circulation. See Additional Resources for information on specific exercises to help reduce cheek fat and tone the muscles of the face.

  5. Step 5

Consider having cosmetic surgery such as a face-lift or liposuction to remove unwanted fat deposits on the cheeks. Plastic surgery will help thin the cheeks and define the cheekbones. Surgical procedures are not without risk, so consult your doctor before pursuing this option.

  6. Step 6

Visit a licensed massage therapist to benefit from the stimulation and health benefits of facial massage. Check with friends or relatives or visit your local day spa for recommendations.
