There are many reasons you may want to shrink a T-shirt. You may have lost weight. It may not fit as well as you thought it would when you bought it, or it could have stretched out over time. No matter the reason, there is a way to shrink the T-shirt to the desired size.
Things You'll Need
- Washing machine
Put the T-shirt in the washing machine with similar colors. Unless the shirt is white, use color safe detergent. Set the washer to the highest temperature possible.
Put the T-shirt in the dryer after it has been washed. Put the dryer on high heat, usually the "Cotton" setting. Check on the T-shirt every 15 minutes. When is almost dry, but still damp to the touch, take it out of the dryer.
Fill an iron with water. Iron the T-shirt on medium heat. It is important to use steam, because it will help with the shrinking. Put the T-shirt back in the dryer to let it finish drying if it is still damp.
Repeat the process as often as you wish. Keep in mind that a T-shirt can only shrink to a certain extent.
