1
Load the clubs into the bag. A classic-style bag has three sections for the clubs. One is for the irons, one for the woods and the other for the putter and chipping wedges. Modern bags have separate holes for each club. A golfer is not allowed to carry more than 14 clubs.

2
Pack at least 20 tees and a dozen balls for every round you'll play. Most bags have a separate compartment for balls and tees near the bottom of the equipment.

3
Clip a towel to one of the rings atop the bag. The towel, which should be no longer than one-third the length of the bag, is used to wipe off clubs and balls that get dirty.
-
4
Load a small pencil and divot repairer. Most bags have a compartment no bigger than a wallet for these items.
-
5
Attach an umbrella to the bag. It might not look like it will rain, but have an umbrella on the bag at all times. Also, put some light rain gear in the bag.
-
6
Pack cans of soda wrapped in tinfoil, which saves you from lugging a cooler around the course.
-
7
Bring some cash in case you need to tip someone such as a caddie. Also, some courses have concession stands, so a little money comes in handy to pay for food and to tip the person working the stand.
