How to Type a Copyright Symbol on a Mac or PC

Whether it's writing about a copyrighted image on your website, blog, or paper, or indicating your copyright on a document or web page, there's cases where you'll need to include a copyright symbol. But how do you type a copyright symbol? Learn how to type these symbols on a PC or a Mac.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A computer
  • A keyboard
  • The need to type a copyright symbol.
  1. Step 1

    Place your cursor in the location where you'd like to type the copyright symbol - a circled "c" - © - which indicates "copyright." This is the same for a PC or Mac.

  2. Step 2

    Type a copyright symbol - © - using Option+G on a Mac. On a PC, you can type a copyright symbol using Control+Alt+C. If this doesn't don't work on a PC, continue on to the next step.

  3. Step 3

    Try the alternate method to type a copyright symbol on a PC (if step 2 doesn't work) by entering Alt+0169 on the small block of number keys on the right side of the keyboard.

Tips & Warnings
  • If one of your keyboard's keys isn't working, you can always copy and paste a circled "C" (©) copyright symbol from another website!
  • When entering key commands on a PC (i.e. Alt+0169), you cannot use the number keys at the top of the keyboard. You must use the number pad on the right side of the keyboard. This is not always present on laptops.
