Removing the badges from your car will give it a sleek, mysterious look. A car’s badges include any applique that involves the manufacturer’s insignia, the dealership tag and any lettering (typically found on the rear of the vehicle). It is a common practice among high-end automotive detailers to remove these badges, giving the car a sleek sense of individuality. Instructions

    • 1

Set a hair dryer to maximum heat (high), and heat the applique for approximately two or three minutes.

    • 2

Apply enough Goo Gone™ solvent to soak the applique. Allow it to stand for one or two minutes.

    • 3

Cut a 1-foot piece of dental floss, and wrap the ends around your index fingers.

    • 4

Using the dental floss as a saw, begin working it between the applique and the surface of the car. You may have to literally saw the dental floss up and down to work it through the adhesive.

    • 5

Gently remove the applique with either a pair of needle-nose pliers or your fingers.

    • 6

Apply another dose of Goo Gone™ solvent, and wipe the remainder of the adhesive away with a clean rag.

Tips & Warnings

  • You may still see an outline of the appliques on the surface of the paint. This can be removed by waxing and buffing the area.
