Creating a flyer for a cleaning service is a quick and easy project on your computer.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Electronic copy of your business logo (if you have one)
  • Software program capable of working with both text and graphics
  • Information about your business
  • Ideas for your business
  • Paper, preferably brightly colored

    Advance Preparation

  1. Step 1

Compile all of the basic information about your business, such as how much you will charge for your service; whether you will charge hourly or weekly; what kinds of cleaning services you will and will not provide; whether you will provide cleaning during the days, evenings, or weekends; your logo, if you have one; and your business contact information: name, address, telephone, email and website, if applicable.

  2. Step 2

Select one of the benefits your cleaning service offers clients to focus on for the purpose of this flyer. This could be the fact that your service is new or that your cleaning service will do the cleaning while your clients are at work or that your prices are really reasonable--and potentially better than your competition. Or it could be that you provide custom deep cleaning of carpets with your new extractor machine.

  3. Step 3

Think of a way you can motivate potential new clients to take action when they receive your flyer--such as offering 25 percent off their first cleaning or two cleanings for the price of one--and then give them a reason to take immediate action, such as an expiration date on this offer.

  4. Step 4

Select a particular demographic or target market you'd like to reach with this flyer--such as working mothers with small children or single men who don't have the time or desire to clean their own house--so that you can design your flyer with this kind of customer in mind.

  5. Step 5

Draw out a rough design of any ideas or concepts you have for the layout of your flyer.

  6. Designing the Flyer

  7. Step 1

Open a new document in a software program that allows you to add and format both text and graphics, such as Microsoft Word, and adjust margins as necessary.

  8. Step 2

Create separate text boxes for each piece of information you want to include on your flyer so that you can format and resize the text as desired and also move the text around on the page.

  9. Step 3

Import graphics or photos into the document to complement the text and the overall business image you are trying to create with your flyer. (This includes your business logo.)

  10. Step 4

Format your special offer in a way that will capture immediate attention when the flyer is viewed, such as making it into a coupon or making it look like play money.

  11. Step 5

Rearrange the text boxes, images and your special offer on the page until it is pleasing to you.

  12. Step 6

Print one copy of your flyer and review it carefully, checking for typos or other errors. Then print as many copies of your flyer as desired, either on your home printer, at a copy shop or via a printing service.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't use more than three different fonts on your flyer. Too many fonts make it look amateurish, not professional. Consider printing your cleaning flyer on brightly colored or fluorescent paper to capture immediate attention.
  • Be sure to use royalty-free images or graphics or obtain the proper permissions before using any graphics or photos on your flyer so you do not infringe on someone else's copyright.
