3
Go to your local gourmet grocery store or coffee shop and select a handful of black tea blends such as Earl Grey, English Afternoon and Masala Chai, or varieties such as Darjeeling, Assam or Ceylon teas. Conveniently, black tea is among the most common types of teas available!

4
Make or purchase an amount of food appropriate to the number of guests you are expecting. Some classic tea party foods include teacakes, cookies, buns, and biscuits.
-
5
Make a mixtape or computer playlist comprised of classic Gothic rock bands. Include bands such as The Cure, Depeche Mode, Siouxie and the Banshees, 45 Grave, Cocteau Twins and Bauhaus. No Gothic event would complete without such a mixtape. The mixtape should be long enough to last the whole party or at least long enough that when it starts over it does so unnoticeably. Have the tape already playing when your guests arrive.
-
6
Set up your table or tables. Cover them with black tablecloths and set each place with a teacup and saucer and a folded napkin. Each table should have two to three black tea candles burning, for ambiance.
-
7
Prepare hot water for the approximate time you expect your guests to begin arriving. Dim the lights. Have your tea bags arranged on the tables or serving tray for the guests to choose for themselves. As they arrive and get settled at their places, serve your guests hot water from a teapot, along with the food you prepared.
