How to Have Twins in "The Sims 3"

Just like in real life, you can never be sure twins are coming if your sim becomes pregnant in "The Sims 3." If you don't want nature to work its magic on its own, you have a couple of options. You can buy the in-game Fertility Treatment item to boost your chances the old-fashioned way, or, if you have a certain expansion pack, you can cheat your way to two little bundles of simulated joy.

Things You'll Need

  • A copy of The Sims 3, installed on your computer

Instructions

  1. Fetility Treatment

    • 1

Select the Sim you want to conceive twins with by clicking on her portrait on the left side of the screen.

    • 2

Select the "Lifetime Happiness" panel from the bottom right portion of the screen. The tab has a small chest picture on it. Click on the chest.

    • 3

Click the "Lifetime Rewards" button inside this interface.

    • 4

Scroll down until you find the reward called "Fertility Treatment." In order to purchase this reward, you must have 10,000 lifetime happiness points, which can be earned simply by playing the game for an extended amount of time or by satisfying your Sim's wishes.

If you have 10,000 points, select the "Fertility Treatment" reward so that it is highlighted in yellow.

    • 5

Click the "Purchase" button at the bottom left of this interface.

    • 6

Once you have increased your Sim's fertility, relax on a nearby bed with a Sim of the opposite sex (the two sims must be in love, adults and not related to each other) and select "Try for Baby" from the pie menu. While the fertility treatment will increase your Sim's chances of having twins, this method is not guaranteed.

    Cheat Code

    • 7

      Hold CTRL+SHIFT+C (or CTRL+SHIFT+Windows key+C for Vista).

    • 8

Type "cheatsenabled true" in the dialog box.

    • 9

Select the Sim you would like to have twins.

    • 10

Bring up the cheat dialog box, and type "forcetwins." This cheat only works if you have the "Open for Business" expansion pack.

Tips & Warnings

  • Sims who were born as part of a twin set will have a better chance of birthing twins.

  • While the fertility treatment will increase your Sim's chances of having twins, it is not guaranteed.

  • So far I have not seen actual triplets, despite the what the reward text says. Anything could happen, though!
