How to send SMS text messages through email

Let's say you're at work and don't want to pull out the cell phone to send a text message to your significant other. Or, you have a prepaid phone and don't want to pay for a text message. You can send a text message directly from your computer to anyone's cell phone and here's how.

      Log into your email account and compose an email message. You're going to compose the email just like you would normally do when you're communicating email to email.

      Each of the major cell phone carriers has their own individual email addresses. Listed below are 12 of the top carriers email addresses:

      - Alltel: phonenumber@message.alltel.com
      - AT&T: phonenumber@txt.att.net
      - Cingular: phonenumber@cingularme.com
      - Metro PCS: phonenumber@MyMetroPcs.com

      The "phonenumber" is the 10 digit phone number of the person you are sending the SMS message to. You will need to know the cell phone carrier of the person your are sending your email/sms to.

      Once you have typed the body of your email hit send as you normally do and your email will be immediately delivered to the recipient's cell phone. This is a good way to save some money on text messaging.
