How to Put MSN on Your Desktop

Adding MSN to your desktop will allow you to quickly open the website with one click from your desktop. The shortcut will typically appear as the MSN icon, which is a butterfly. The procedure will vary slightly between browsers. Two popular browsers are Internet Explorer and Firefox. The process varies slightly between the two browsers.

Instructions

Using Internet Explorer

1. 

   Open the MSN website using Internet Explorer.

2. 

   Move your cursor onto the website and right click with your mouse.

3. 

   Click on "Create Shortcut" in the menu that pops up.

4. 

   Click "Yes" on the menu that opens, which asks if you want to add a shortcut to the website on your desktop.

5. 

   Go to your desktop. The MSN icon should be on your desktop. When you click on the MSN icon, the MSN website will open on your screen.

Using Firefox

1. 

   Close any open windows on the computer so that just the desktop remains visible. Open the MSN website using Firefox.

2. 

   Click on the "Restore Down" in the upper right-hand corner to see the desktop behind the MSN page.

3. 

   Click on the butterfly to the left of the URL address. Drag the butterfly from the web page to your desktop in the background.

4. 

   Release your mouse button when the butterfly is on the desktop.

5. 

   Check the desktop to make sure the butterfly icon was successfully dragged there.
