Pantone is an industrial design company that uses a wide variety of colors. Pantone uses its own numbering system to identify colors; its color list is its own intellectual property. Because Pantone color numbers are standard, oftentimes people will request certain colors for a website based on Pantone colors. Because web pages read colors in red, green and blue (RGB), these requested Pantone numbers must be converted to RGB.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Identify the Pantone color you wish to use.

  2. Step 2

Look up the color number, which can generally be found on the Pantone website or at a hardware store.

  3. Step 3

Find the Pantone number on the chart under "Pantone Conversion Chart" (see References).

  4. Step 4

Write down the RGB numbers that correspond with it.

  5. Step 5

Check the color example next to the RGB numbers to make sure it is the same color and that you have written the numbers down correctly.
