How to Apply Liquid Eyeliner Correctly
Liquid eyeliner creates a sultry, smooth line that accentuates the curve of your eye perfectly -- as long as you apply it smoothly to a well-prepared surface. Don't rush and don't be afraid to start over if your application looks a bit wonky at first. Practice makes perfect.

1
Prepare your eyelid by applying eye makeup primer and eye shadow. It is much easier to apply liquid eyeliner correctly when there is a cosmetic base, because it creates a smooth work surface.
-
2
Choose your liquid eyeliner applicator carefully. The thinner and more flexible the felt tip is, the easier it is to apply the liquid eyeliner.
-
3
Steady your hand and gently lay the tip of the felt applicator onto your upper eyelid at the base of your eyelashes. Move along your lash line slowly, creating a smooth line. Do not pull your skin because when it relaxes, you will not have a smooth line.
-
4
Paint the line along your lashes like as a long, thin wedge. The line should start tiny near the inside corner of your eye and grow fuller towards the outside edge.
-
5
To create a cat eye, lay a pencil against the outside corner of your eye and line it up with the angle of your lower lash line. Use it as a guide to extend the eyeliner.
-
6
If the line looks irregular, correct any mistakes with eye makeup remover on a cotton swab. If using the applicator is difficult for you after several practice sessions, try an eyeliner brush to apply your liquid eyeliner.

Tips & Warnings
Confirm that your liquid eyeliner is not clumped on the applicator. This causes mistakes.
Liquid eyeliner pairs well with false eyelashes; it easily fills in every area of skin around your lashes, making the false lashes appear authentic.
